On Friday, Jan. 20th, 2018, The Kilner Group had the pleasure of awarding our inaugural Young Entrepreneur Scholarship Award to Maria Rose Belding, an undergraduate student attending American University in Washington, DC. Maria Rose was one of five finalists who were chosen to present their business concepts to a panel of judges on December 28th at the law offices of Pillsbury Law Firm in downtown DC. The panel, after hearing the presentations and asking questions of the finalists, voted to award the scholarship to Maria Rose and her venture, MEANS database, a non-profit, online platform that connects food donors to food pantries across the country.
A huge thanks goes out to our Scholarship Sponsors: KVS Title, Apex Home Loans, Top to Bottom Services, Waybetter Marketing, Rock Spring Contracting, Johnson’s Landscaping and JDA Select. Your generous support made the scholarship possible!
And to our judges, Myron Adoteye, Andy Perez-Benzo, Sean Keegan, Joe Petrucci, and Roxana Pierce. Thank you for your time and dedication to the scholarship!
Finally, a special thank you to Roxana Pierce and the Invisible Hand Foundation, for increasing the scholarship award from $10,000 to $12,000 on the day of the finalist presentations!
